Iqon Project Cost Management

Cost management is a vital part of the Iqon Project Control System.

We use the same system on all of our projects to ensure our operations are efficient and consistent. The system is computerised and linked directly to our head office accounting system.

On all our projects Iqon will develop its own Cost Plan or work closely with the client’s Cost Planner to develop an initial Cost Plan for the project based on the client’s brief or Preliminary Sketch Plans. Iqon has the ability in-house to develop cost plans/estimates at any phase throughout a project.

  1. All cost plans that are developed detail every element of the project and if details are unknown an appropriate recommendation is made for a project contingency.
  2. Upon the cost plan being established, Iqon will (with the design team) look to develop the clients [project further to ensure the cost plan remains realistic and the project remains the most effective and efficient that can be delivered.
  3. The development of the cost plan will continue through the design phase and may be undertaken several times during this phase to ensure all stakeholders are satisfied with the budget proposed.
  4. The cost plan will also include ‘buildability’ initiatives to ensure they are incorporated into the detailed documentation before it is completed.
  5. The cost plan then sets out and costs exactly how the project will be delivered and constructed within the program proposed.

During construction, we prepare Cost Reports every month to record exact details of expenditure, costs committed and variations. With our open book methods, the client always knows exactly what is going on.

Iqon can also manage the design team to ensure the cost plan is an upper limit to be designed too.

No matter what form of delivery, Iqon always offers alternatives to minimise cost, save time whilst never compromising quality. Iqon considers itself to be a proactive financial partner in all projects it is involved in.
